Three ways to shift garden waste. The right one depends on how much you’ve got.

  • Council Garden Bin

    • Cost: ~£40/year [ASSUMPTION: Kirklees rate]
    • Effort: Low — wheel it out
    • Handles: One bin a fortnight
    • Best for: regular mowing and light pruning.

    Honestly the cheapest option if you’re not in a hurry.

  • Best for clearances

    Skip Hire

    • Cost: £170–£200, all-in
    • Effort: Load it once, we do the rest
    • Handles: A whole overgrown garden
    • Best for: one-off clearances — years of growth, a landscaping job, or a garden you’ve just inherited.

  • Tip Runs

    • Cost: Free, plus fuel and your Saturday
    • Effort: High — load, drive, queue, repeat
    • Handles: A boot-load per trip
    • Best for: a bag or two. Beyond that, count the trips — a big clearance is 10+ runs.

What Counts as Garden Waste?
